Event: A Conversation with David Gold

Written by Mavis Amankwah

I truly find it a blessing being in the position that I am as a serial successful entrepreneur but I’ve always been inspired by those who have gone before me to be the true success that I am, especially if they are local heroes hailing from the same area or country I come from.

I was recently invited to a really inspiring event as part of The Ideas Olympiad at Stratford Circus. The event was focused on David Gold. David Gold is currently the co-chairmain of West Ham United Football Club. But as a successful businessman during the years, he has been the chairman of Birmingham City Football Club, Ann Summers and Knickerbox and has also dabbled in the newspaper business thanks to his acquisition of The Sunday and Daily Sport papers with his business partner.

At this event, he sat down and talked openly about his journey from growing up as a young boy in the East End in the austerity and poverty of the war years to becoming the co-chairman of West Ham.

It was truly an inspiring evening for me and directly confirmed why I got into business and the challenges of the world and our backgrounds which make us stronger and more determined to be successes.

Here are some photos from the event…
